Christian Nold artist and activist delivered a fantastic presentation and workshop over two days here in Huddersfield around his project ‘biomapping’, which involves augmenting bottom up location based mapping with sensory data in particular Galvanic Skin Response data obtained from the person who is doing the mapping.

Christian mentions plans to further extend this into other sensory input, perhaps even directly related to the environment. pollution levels, etc.
I was sure he’d looked at alternative biofeedback devices so I showed him the portable Brainwave Analyser (EEG device) we have in our department.

Ill let you all dream up of all the fascinating implications of using Christians Biomapping setup yourselves. What I took from it was further confirmation of the degree of subjectivity involved in interpreting results.. which Christian seemed to reiterate in his presentation as well. It made me ponder about ways in which I could have fostered this in my own work Neuromirror, other than just talking about it to interested participants. Maybe that approach was appropriate at the time or maybe not, this will certainly inform any further development.

Amongst the things I heard around this event was the concept of ‘emotional landscapes’ woo.. talk to Rob about that. he’s been soaking up the event and covering it in full on his blog breaking things.
Amongst the participants were Jen Southern / Jen Hamilton
and Miss Mealey

Pavilion well done!
