Why Im not blogging here · 415 days ago

As you can see the last post on this site was a good couple of hundred days ago, Ive sorely missed not being able to blog due to work commitments.

In the meantime Ive enjoyed many aspects of teaching (the satisfaction of seeing a student understand something, organisation and regular presentation) and learnt to cope with some of the challenges that present themselves on a daily basis. (mainly administrative trivia, but challenging nonetheless).

Once or twice I toyed with the idea of keeping a blog of teaching activities, but to be honest, that is both time consuming beyond what I have time for and raises ethical ambiguities and legal liabilities.

So, I guess I’ll be resuming reflection and presentation on a blog (which Ill post the address of here) when I embark on my PhD.

in the meantime I have the occasional rant on Pleasetakenote.com

Library 2.0 in Huddersfield · 890 days ago

Dave delivered a thoroughly enjoyable / comprehensive introduction to the world of Library 2.0 and some of the things hes been up to.

As gracious as he is, he invited me to co-host the session with him and give a gentle intro to what web 2.0 (wikipedia definition) is.

Suffice to say I followed Jen’s advice pre presentation-
the ‘its going to be fun’ method works a treat… and it turned out to be just that.

Dave has a full account of the event on his blog and below Ive uploaded my presentation sans notes.

Web 2.0 (Flash Paper)

Theres so many exciting things going on in the library world right now and Huddersfield seems the ideal receptive place to implement these things.

Thanks to everyone who attended.

Tony has gone and commercialised and he’s going for the balls out package, Beflix.com

I think his site still has its old charm in many ways. Sad to see the archives go, and I shall be making a concerted effort to call him Ant, which is what he prefers. (ahh the neurosynapses still call him Tony…)

The prints look gorgeous by the way! Order some now Glitch Prints from Photobox

Old
actually this is really old- Glitchbrowser
passed the million hit mark in just over 50 days.. nice!

Its been mentioned all over the place
As ever Chris O Shea at Pixelsumo , has been very kind. he’s even put a pixelsumo loves glitchbrowser at the bottom of the page. You should also check out what Ben hanbury did with it. Its really neat.

Also

Im loving the Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Development Course Im on (what a mouthful), the instructor who teaches it (Chris Blamires) and the people on the course with me on Fridays are an absolute pleasure to be around. Im genuinely finding it to be a really valuable experience. Especially as I thought it was going to be a bit of a chore.. its the polar opposite.

EndNote · 1005 days ago

Since my last post, I completed my post grad studies (MA Smart Design) with a distinction. Im very pleased about it.

Right now, I teach creative programming skills to first and second year students at Huddersfield University, and I support the technical study module of final year students.

This will probably be the last post until I sort out what Im going to be researching next.
